Cookie and Local Storage Policy

1. Scope

This policy covers the FitBalkanMate mobile app (iOS and Android) and the website fitbalkanmate.com. It explains which cookies and similar storage technologies we use, for what purpose, and how you can control them.

2. Are cookies used?

2.1. In the mobile app — NO

The mobile app does not place or use HTTP cookies. Instead it uses local storage on your device (AsyncStorage / SecureStore in React Native), which is technically similar to cookies but works entirely on your device:

• Selected interface language (Bulgarian or English) — so you do not have to choose it every time;
• Account session — a token for automatic sign-in between app launches;
• Local AI chat history — stored only on your device;
• Unsent/offline records — temporary data until your internet connection is restored.

This storage is strictly necessary for the service to work, is not automatically sent to us and is not used for tracking across apps or websites.

2.2. On the website fitbalkanmate.com — minimal

The website does not set marketing, advertising or tracking cookies on our part. The only storage we use is the localStorage of your browser with a few keys: your chosen site language and your consent record from the banner. This is functional storage necessary for the preferences you have expressed.

2.3. Third-party cookies

We currently do not integrate ad networks and do not load third-party tracking scripts on the website. If in the future we add an analytics tool (e.g., Firebase Analytics) or other third-party services, this page will be updated in advance with a description of their cookies and consent mechanisms.

4. How to manage or delete stored data

In the browser (website):

• Clear the site data via your browser settings (Chrome: Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data → "Cookies and other site data").
• You can block localStorage through settings or extensions, but the site will forget your language choice.

In the app:

• Uninstalling the app deletes all local storage.
• Deleting the account removes the cloud data; local data remains only until uninstallation.
• Limiting app tracking: iOS — Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; Android — Settings → Google → Ads.
